Business Development Manager - Aquatics
 
The Animal People Recruitment Company are proud to be exclusively recruiting for an exciting Business Development Manager - Aquatics position within the UK pet industry.
 
This is a field-based role with a competitive salary of £35,000-£40,000+ DOE with performance bonus, company car, strong benefits package, and the chance to represent a market-leading aquatics brand with a global reputation. You can be based remotely anywhere in the UK.

The Opportunity...
This is a highly autonomous sales role managing and growing a portfolio of specialist aquatics accounts across the UK. You'll act as the commercial lead and brand advocate for a world-renowned product range, working closely with independent retailers and partners to deliver growth, margin, and market reach.
 
You'll be joining a company with a long-standing heritage in the pet industry, currently on an exciting journey of transformation. They are investing in people, data, and performance and this role will put you at the forefront of their aquatics strategy.
 
Key Responsibilities...

  • Drive the commercial growth of a respected aquatics brand in the UK market.
  • Expand distribution into new and existing sales channels.
  • Build and manage strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted partner.
  • Provide insights and category knowledge to support customer success.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align sales, marketing, and operations.
  • Deliver against targets for sales, margin, and account development.
What We're Looking For...
  • Proven success in business development, sales, or account management - ideally within aquatics, aquatics wholesale, or related pet-care sectors.
  • A strong commercial mindset with confidence in using data to drive decisions.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, independent, and resilient, comfortable in a field-based role.
  • A consultative sales style, focused on long-term partnerships and retailer profitability.
(Experience in aquatics is ideal, but candidates from wider pet or specialist sales backgrounds are encouraged to apply.)
