Senior NPD Technologist – Pet Food
Lincolnshire (site-based)
£35,000+ DOE, Full-Time, Permanent. Own transport required due to site location!
We’re recruiting on behalf of a highly respected and long-established manufacturer within the pet food industry, during an exciting period of growth and investment across multiple production sites.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced New Product Development Technologist
to join a fast-paced, collaborative team focused on delivering high-quality, innovative pet food products to a broad customer base.
You’ll lead development projects from initial concept through to successful launch, working cross-functionally with internal departments and external stakeholders. The role offers hands-on involvement in the entire NPD process — from formulation and trials to customer presentations and post-launch support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full lifecycle of NPD projects from brief to commercial launch
- Develop innovative new pet food products that meet technical, nutritional, and commercial targets
- Work closely with pet nutritionists to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications
- Coordinate trials, production handovers, and customer sampling
- Maintain detailed records and documentation in line with BRC and internal quality systems
- Input into product costings and recipe sign-off
- Present new concepts to customers and support with product launches
- Conduct benchmarking and competitor analysis to identify market opportunities
- A background in food or pet food manufacturing, with solid NPD experience
- Proven ability to manage multiple development projects to tight deadlines
- Familiarity with stage-gate processes and product development systems
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and technical documentation
- A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Animal Nutrition or similar
- Level 3 or 4 Food Safety qualification
- Knowledge of retailer product development systems is advantageous
- Full UK driving licence and own transport
