We're recruiting for a Supply Chain Planner to join a premium, award-winning pet food business with an international footprint and a fast-moving product range. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who loves turning data into action forecasting demand, protecting availability, and keeping customers supplied across global markets.
This role is offered on a 18-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover), with genuine scope for longer-term opportunity depending on business needs.
The opportunity...
Reporting into a senior operations leader, you'll play a key role in demand planning, stock forecasting, inventory management and cross-trade order coordination. You'll work closely with suppliers, freight partners and internal teams to ensure products land on time, with the right documentation, and with shelf-life and customer requirements fully considered.
This is not "just" products in/products out. It's a varied, high-impact planning role in a business that operates across multiple locations and international customers, where accuracy, urgency and communication really matter.
What you'll be doing (key areas)...
Demand & inventory planning / forecasting
- Analyse sales performance and identify trends, producing monthly sales and inventory analysis
- Build stock requirement forecasts across all markets (with particular focus on international customer timing)
- Flag and escalate stock risk, supply constraints, or forecast volatility
- Plan stock for weekly/monthly promotions across both D2C and B2B channels
- Manage cross-trade purchase orders, lead-times, and customer-specific requirements
- Enter and manage POs on the ERP system, chasing and expediting when required
- Review import/export documentation and liaise with freight forwarders
- Prepare advance order schedules so suppliers can plan production effectively
- Support supplier performance through meeting input, issue logging and follow-through on corrective actions
- Enter trade customer orders on the ERP system, confirm availability and acknowledge orders
- Support the creation of export paperwork for shipments from EU warehouse locations
- Book transport, liaise with warehouses/customers, and support shipment processing and invoicing steps
- Assist with customer complaints and resolutions where needed
- Help document and maintain supply chain processes
- Support projects, reporting, meeting minutes, and ongoing operational improvements
- Operate in line with health & safety and quality management expectations
To be successful here, you'll likely have experience in a role such as Supply Chain Planner, Demand Planner, Inventory Planner, Materials Planner, Supply Planner, Logistics Planner, Export Coordinator or similar.
Ideal experience includes:
- Strong planning skills: forecasting, trend analysis, stock control, inventory optimisation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing demand and priorities
- Experience coordinating international supply and/or cross-trade orders
- Confidence managing lead-times, documentation and customer requirements
- Good working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP experience is a bonus)
- Clear communicator who can build relationships across suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Experience with perishable goods / shelf-life products (pet food, food, supplements, FMCG)
- Exposure to export paperwork, freight forwarders, EU warehouse operations
- £32,000-£35,000 depending on experience
