Our Story

About The Animal People Recruitment Company

The Animal People Recruitment Company was launched in July 2021 by Chris Whatling & Sarah Grace, out of a desire to form a recruitment consultancy that was specialist, kind, honest and inclusive, specifically for animal related industries, and to give something back to animals in need.

We believe we have accomplished exactly that. Based in Central England, we offer our services to all companies that offer a product or service to the Pet, Animal Health or Veterinary industries. The roles that we recruit into are very diverse and cover every corner of the UK and Ireland, and into the US and mainland Europe. From Sales and Marketing to Executive Management and all thats in between, you name it we can find you the perfect person for the job! You can also find out more about our divisions and the types of jobs that we recruit for here on our website!

“I have been an animal person for as long as I can remember, so I care deeply and am very passionate about the roles we recruit for,” admits Chris. “Naturally, I am very intrigued by every company that we work with and want to know where they are going, what their goals are, their people, how they are successful, and how we can help. The same is true for each of our candidates. It never feels like work.”

While our team remains relatively small, we already combine over 40 years of recruiting experience to deliver the best possible service and are actively growing. To further complement our skills, we have invested in state-of-the-art recruitment technology to enhance our processes and ensure that we deliver the best candidates for a role, every time.

Since we launched, we have been inundated with requests from clients across all industries, allowing us to go from strength to strength, constantly update our processes, hire new people and make generous donations to Birmingham Dogs Home. Long may that continue...

Values

The core values of The Animal People Recruitment company are to be specialist, honest, kind and inclusive. “These values are so important in everyday life, and are fundamental components in our recruitment processes,” explains Chris. “Each of the team are driven by doing the right thing, for all parties involved."

"Our processes are completely honest and transparent. We should feel like an in-house recruiter to every client that we work with. We use our bespoke video technology in every single recruitment project. CVs are so one-dimensional, often not entirely truthful, and traditional recruitment techniques like shoving a bunch of CVs under an employer’s nose are so outdated and offer little value. We are specialist's in our industry and our clients trust our expertise. We love what we do and take our job very seriously."

“On top of that, I take great pride in knowing that we are playing a very important role in these industries and giving back to animals in need by putting real animal people into important roles,” he continues. “In addition to that, we sponsor a kennel at Birmingham Dogs Home and donate to them each and every time we place a candidate.”

Giving back

Kindness is at the core of everything we do. It is vital to us that we give back to animals in need. For every single candidate that we place into a role we donate a percentage of our fee to charity and we are partnering with Birmingham Dog’s Home to make a difference in dogs lives.
